The ALS Food and Pharmaceutical Division is active in Australia, Asia and Europe. Food/Pharma Division laboratories
are located in Melbourne, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Kuala Lumpur, Prague and Lulea.
The division specializes in all aspects of food analysis from Nutritional panels, through compositional analysis,
microbiological and chemical site auditing/inspection and contaminant testing, to emergency contaminant testing (e.g.
Melamine, Malachite Green, Sudan Red, Nitrofurans, Antibiotics, etc).
Pharmaceutical Testing encompasses finished product and raw material testing (chemical and microbiological) of
Over the Counter (OTC) Medicines, Nutraceuticals and Veterinary Products. Sterility Testing Services specific to
Medical Devices, Stability and shelf life testing of prerelease products is also provided.
Data Quality and Service – be it on time delivery, technical support or superior deliverables – characterize this division.
Foods
Laboratory analysis can be used to characterize a food product and to ascertain quality thereby reflecting suitability for
human consumption. Apart from determining product characteristics (including nutritional panels), food analysis can cover
the determination of toxic metals (contaminant testing), artificial colouring, flavouring, preservatives, pesticide residue and microbial contamination.
Food products analysed include general commodities, cereals, beverages, dairy products, fish and marine products, spices, fruit,
vegetable oils and animal fats.
Pharmaceutical, Nutraceutical and Veterinary Products
A comprehensive suite of tests is available to assist manufacturers and suppliers to determine the quality,
potency and/or quality compliance of raw materials, intermediates and final products. Chemical Analysis in accordance
with US Pharmacopeia (USP) and British Pharmacopeia (BP) as well as customized validations are provided.
Centres of excellence can provide super ultra trace levels of metals in pharmaceutical raw materials and finished products.
